San Francisco del Monte de Oro counts on a great cultural and artistic wealth where the traditions, the art and the work are conjugated to give birth to unique pieces.

Wood turnings of calden
and carob tree
Several craftsmen of the place dedicate themselves to the production of the different artisan objects made in these noble wood.

The models and sizes are varied and among them the following ones stand out:

Earthen bowls of all the measures.
Small and big plates.
"Mates" smooth and decorated.
Ash trays.

Don Zotero Garcia Quiroga

Made in sole and leathers of local animals. Evoking the tradition, the delicate engraving by hand heightens the nobility of the used materials.

 

Edgard Leyes

Young artist and collector, reunite the faithful vestiges of the indigenous cultures such as, mortar hands, ends of arrow and lances between hundreds of objects. Combined with his art that practices from very young, he represents the fauna of the zone with delicate treatment and valuation of the nature in almost 300 pieces that come accumulating. He has a personal museum that next will be open to the public.

Gilberto Fernandez

Master with the leather, original of San Francisco, heir of the familiar art makes extraordinary works such as: valises with quilted wheels, handbags covered in leather with iron frame and pockets, folder in sole quilted with hand-made engravings, clocks with sole bottom and leather, clock of sole with bronze hangers of 55x22 cm, purse of golf made in airplane fabric and leather of first quality, leather provisions and others works made by order.

Gaudioso Aguero

Works in crude leathers by hand and soles, among them stand out the following ones: game of reins with "cabresto", muzzles, whips, breast collars, reins with pitching, braids and many others. Works from orders are made.


Carlos Quevedo

Craftsman of the South Band almost patch to the River San Francisco, makes many leather works, like bows, reins, "bosales", stirrups, whips and many other traditional equipment.

Dionisio Ramirez y Katalina Jofre

This native pair of the Gorge of Socoscora, makes works of artisan way, with its old loom, such as waddings, averages blankets, strips, caronilla (breast collar). Formerly this marriage lived near the River in the Gorge of Socoscora, in the 2001 year, a sudden swelling devastate their house, at the present time they live in the South Band, behind the school of Sarmiento. Katalina learned the art to spin the wool of its own ewes, since she was a little girl.

Nathalia Hermida


She is a luthier and has been in San Francisco since the beginning of the year 2006, is dedicated particularly to the manufacture of UDUS. This traditional drum of African origin, is a percussion instrument simple and easy to play. It makes them in diverse sizes and each one has its unique form and sound. They are modeled individually with sawdust paste (kneading of vegetal fibers, stone dust, wood and glue) and later are decorated and painted for its protection.

Juan Gil

Mr. Juan Gil makes works in leathers, bows, reins, pitching and reins, fetters and others. Native on the Gorge of Socoscora and at the present time he lives in the South Band.
